Episode 2 of Marvel’s What If…? once again, almost feels too short because it is so good you just want it to keep going on forever!
Wow, wow, wow. If last week’s episode of What If…? was a peek inside the potential of this series’ awesomeness, this week’s episode was only confirmation of that fact.
This week’s episode, What If T’Challa Was a Star-Lord?, featured Chadwick Boseman reprising his role as T’Challa for what will be the last time. Thankfully, it’s been revealed he will return to voice the character for three more episodes so it’s not the last time we’ll get to enjoy hearing his incredible voice on our silver screens. Beyond the sentimental factor of this episode, I was not ready for all that this episode was about to provide.
I mean, from the get-go this episode is a testament to how different this particular universe is compared to the one we know. In this universe, Korath is not only a big fan of Star-Lord but he becomes an ally. T’Challa manages to stop Thanos from being, well, Thanos just by the way of conversation. WHAT?! And Nebula has platinum blond hair?! Whoa. It was just so much to process so quickly but it was so thrilling all the same.
The episode, once again, almost feels too short because it is so good you just want it to keep going on forever and ever but obviously, that can’t happen. I loved the objective of this episode and how it featured so many lovable characters in exciting new ways. And yes, this episode even managed to make me a tad bit emotional. Especially the moment of dedication to Chadwick Boseman at the end of the episode which totally wrecked my emotions inwardly. *sigh*
NEXT WEEK
All in all, this is undoubtedly my favorite episode of the series so far and I absolutely cannot wait to hear Tom Hiddleston being the mischievous God that he is again in next week’s episode. Now I’m going to go find a corner and weep profusely. Just kidding. But I might just hit PLAY on that episode again…just because.
