Relive The Magic Of The Dune Trailer With Our Image Gallery

Was Denis Villeneuve’s Dune the mind-blowing experience you hoped for? It was for Annlyel James.

Have you ever been to a movie that completely immerses you in a way where you leave the real world for a little while? The last film that gave me that experience was Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. That is, until seeing Dune this past weekend.

What Denis Villeneuve has managed to create for the big screen with Dune is almost indescribable. You have to see it to fully understand just how incredible this film is on the big screen. Especially in IMAX. Since seeing the film in a nearly packed movie theater, I’ve been trying to find something I disliked about this film. And honestly, there’s only one thing wrong with this movie. It ended!

INTERMISSION

If there had been a thirty-minute intermission before having to sit down for two and a half hours more of that mesmerizing movie I would’ve done that in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, we may not get a sequel for 2-3 years. Oh, the agony.

I get it. There was a lot of exposition and yes a lot of world-building. But I enjoyed watching a movie that didn’t feel like it was using exposition to move between action scenes like a Marvel film. The dialogue was thoughtful, important, and provided life to a story that has always been considered so dense the book was deemed “unfilmable.” Well,  Villeneuve found a way to do the impossible and I’m eagerly awaiting Part Two.

INCREDIBLE DETAIL

For those wondering how this movie could be compared to The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. Well, just look at the incredible detail, the conceptualized world; acting, story structure, and more importantly, the heart that went into this film. My favorite trilogy of all time is The Lord of the Rings trilogy. My favorite movie: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. So when I say that yes, this film is the closest thing we’ve had to The Lord of the Rings in two decades, know that I am not exaggerating. I’m positively blown away by this movie, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it, and now I want every art book of Dune I can find.
