Can Robert Pattinson pull off Bruce Wayne/Batman in Matt Reeves’s forthcoming The Batman? Steve takes a deep dive into the legends of the Dark Knight
Next year, we are finally getting the movies I have been hearing about for several years including Matt Reeve’s The Batman. Several postponed release dates later, we are being told that The Batman will hit theaters on March 4th, 2022.
Monday, we even got a new trailer titled The Bat and the Cat that digs a little deeper into what we are to expect.

YEAR TWO
According to everything I’ve read about this movie, it is not an origin story and takes place during Wayne’s second year as the Dark Knight. The film boasts one heck of a cast with names like Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro; Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell, and, of course, Robert Pattinson.
To be honest, I was not excited in the least bit when it was announced that Pattinson was donning the cape and cowl for this movie. To be fair, before last year’s Tenet, I had only seen him in the Twilight movies and a couple of the Harry Potter movies. So I wasn’t comfortable seeing him play the role of one of my favorite comic book characters. However, I can say the same about when I heard the announcement several years ago that Ben Affleck was going to be playing the role.
BEN AFFLECK
As it turned out, Affleck wound up being my favorite actor to play the part of Bruce Wayne/Batman. With that in mind, I am willing to give Pattinson the benefit of the doubt. Based on the trailers I have seen, I am more comfortable with his portrayal of a younger, second-year Batman. But I still have a few reservations about seeing him as Bruce Wayne. At this point, I am just going to trust Mr. Reeves and hope he knows what he has in mind.

ROBERT PATTINSON
Slight reservations with the choice of the main character aside, I am very excited to see this movie. Is there a ton of Batman movies out there? Yes. Do I think that people are getting tired of seeing more Batman movies? Yes. Do I think people are getting annoyed with the fact that Hollywood keeps rebooting the character? Yes. However, I don’t care. Give me all the Batman. I love reading and watching different creators’ iterations of the character.

Come March, provided they don’t push the release date back again, you can guarantee that I will be checking this one out on opening night.
The Batman will release via Warner Bros. Pictures on March 4, 2022.
