Jason Reitman’s glorious Ghostbusters Afterlife takes the top spot on the UK Official Film Chart on digital sales alone
Although Jason Reitman’s stellar threequel is still only available digitally, Ghostbusters Afterlife shot straight to the top of the Official Film Chart. As revealed in our report yesterday, the British public helped Afterlife to overshoot No Time To Die and Venom: Let There Be Carnage to begin its reign at the summit.
The movie finally arrives in physical format on January 31st which will only intensify its revenue stream. But given its limited availability, claiming the top spot at the first time of asking is another accolade the movie can add to its plaudits. Check out the full chart below:
AROUND THE WORLD
The movie continues to sell well outside of the U.K. and tops the iTunes; Google, and Vudu‘s digital sales charts in the United States alone. And if that isn’t enough to have Sony Pictures licking their lips with glee, the movie was also the most-streamed title in Canada.
The movie is finally starting to vacate multiplexes around the world after a sensational run at the box office. But with another run of success awaiting it on home media; Afterlife is a shoo-in to be one of the success stories of the past year.
Congratulations to Jason and Ivan Reitman on a job well done. This sequel has been a long time coming – but with a hefty boost from the Reitman family proton pack, it has delivered in a big way!
