Catwoman: Hunted is an entertaining and refreshing DC Comics movie. It also features a visual anime style that is so much better than the usual animated DC Comics movies.”

DC Comics’ latest original movie is about Catwoman. It’s an anime directed by Shinsuke Terasawa and written by DC veteran Greg Weisman.

STORY

First of all, having a DC movie that doesn’t focus on Batman or Superman is a nice change! There are so many characters in the DC universe, there is room for everyone. And having a Catwoman story that doesn’t feature Batman is even better. Here, it’s just Catwoman going on an adventure. It’s actually refreshing not to be in Gotham and actually see the characters travel around the world. Furthermore, she ends up teaming up with Batwoman to stop Leviathan. They make a great team and there is a lot of banter between the two. You don’t need Batman to tell a good Catwoman story. And this anime proves it!

As for the villains, they chose from different sides of the DC universe, assembling a team strong enough to face Catwoman and Batwoman. Moreover, Catwoman fighting Cheshire and Cheetah was meant to happen and I’m surprised it didn’t happen sooner! Even though, the main storyline is wrapped up by the end, there is room for more. So, this one definitely deserves a sequel. Indeed, when you have an entertaining story like this one, you just want to see more of it!

VISUALS

Undoubtedly, Catwoman Hunted has the best visuals for a DC Comics animated movie. Obviously, the anime style works so much better than the usual generic visual style from DC. Firstly, anime conveys better emotions of the characters. Secondly, it’s a more fluid animation style. DC Comics should really consider making more anime movies because it looks so much better!

VERDICT

Catwoman: Hunted is an entertaining and refreshing DC Comics movie. It also features a visual anime style that is so much better than the usual animated DC Comics movies.

Catwoman: Hunted is now available on blu-ray and DVD.
