Charlie Cox says he fully supports the PG-13 version of Daredevil in the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe
After Netflix’s contract with Marvel Studios came to an end, MCU fans feared for the future of Daredevil, Jessica Jones; Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. But with these heroes now heading to Disney+ in just under two weeks, and Matt Murdock popping up in Spider-Man No Way Home, the man without fear is back where he belongs. And he’s here to stay!
So far, Kevin Feige and the team at Marvel Studios have been keeping their plans for Daredevil close to the chest. Aside from confirming that Charlie Cox STILL IS the MCU Man Without Fear moving forward. But that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating when Daredevil will show up next. Charlie Cox’s delightful cameo in the Spidey threequel facilitated his debut in the MCU proper and now, with all three seasons of his standalone series now coming to Disney+; will we finally get the fourth season we’ve all been waiting for? Charlie Cox is totally on board!
PULLING PUNCHES
Even though the majority of MCU shows are aimed at the PG-13 threshold, Cox believes Marvel Studios would handle Daredevil’s transition to a less violent tone with the utmost care. While speaking to ComicBook.com about his new series, Cox chimed in on whether he would be cool with the new PG-13 version of Daredevil. And he is totally down with whatever they want to do. Why? Because he has faith in the setup.
“I wouldn’t put it past the folks at Marvel to be able to accomplish that. I’m such a fan of everything they’ve done so far, I wouldn’t underestimate them at all. So if they wanted to make a more PG version of Daredevil, I back them to find a way to do where it feels totally in keeping with everything we’ve done. And maybe there’s a little less blood, maybe there’s a little whatever, but I back them to do it.”
DISNEY DAREDEVIL
Although Cox was full of support for the MCU Daredevil, he did go on to say that he doesn’t think his man without fear would fit in a family-friendly atmosphere. Just how Kevin Feige and his team tackle this conundrum remains to be seen, but either way, fans will welcome Matt Murdock back with open arms. PG-13 or otherwise. And at this point, Daredevil season 4 on Disney+ seems to be the perfect fit. After all, the first three seasons will be streaming in their ultra-violent best. So why can’t we have a little of both? Uber violent in his own series. PG-13 in his big-screen MCU adventures. I’d be happy with the compromise. But ultimately, the ball is in Marvel’s court.
