Ambulance is the action thriller you’ll want to see in theaters. It’s Michael Bay at his finest.
Did somebody call for an Ambulance? Michael Bay has had lots of misses but one thing that can’t be denied is the man’s talent at epitomizing the word action. If you’re going to see one of his movies one thing you know you’ll see is explosions and slow-mo shots. One thing I wasn’t ready for when I watched Ambulance was a story with an emotional center that had me, for once, genuinely caring about the main characters.

FINEST BAY
Ambulance is Michael Bay at his finest. It’s an action-packed thrill ride that stacks the stakes until by the end; you’ll be on the edge of your seat watching the scenario play out. Yahya Abdul Mateen II and Jake Gyllenhaal inject enough feeling into their characters, Will and Danny, that you believe the genuine brotherliness between them. By the end, I cared so deeply about them that I couldn’t help shedding a tear.
This is Michael Bay’s highest-rated movie on Rotten Tomatoes and there’s a reason why. Some moments feel a bit out of sync. Some of the sweeping, almost dizzying drone shots feel like they’re repeated just for cool points rather than driving the story forward. And some of the jokes don’t land exactly right. But this film works on a whole bunch of levels. Most importantly, this film is escapism at its finest. From the bank robbery to the nearly two-hour-long car chase Bay injects this movie with adrenaline and makes sure to never let you go, providing an experience you’ll want to see on the big screen, preferably IMAX.

VERDICT
If the Transformers movies had found a way to make the human characters as compelling as the three leads in Ambulance that franchise would rival Marvel Studios for its enjoyment. I’m excited to see what new action-packed Bayhem Michael Bay can cook up for his next endeavor.
Ambulance is distributed by Universal Pictures and is playing in theatres and cinemas around the world now!

Wow! You sold me on this movie. Michael Bay tends to just be explosions but I take your word that it was better than his usual. Nice perspective!
It’s really good.
