Annlyel explores the dynamic slate of upcoming content coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and shares her top five projects
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is in a new phase of world-building and storytelling, culminating in what we now know as The Multiverse Saga. This past weekend Kevin Feige announced a bunch of eye-widening future projects. But I’m here to share my top five announcements. And even though Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is one of the projects I’m most excited about I’ll stick to the films and shows that are a bit further away. Here we go.
5. Echo
Hawkeye was one of my favorite additions to the MCU in 2021. And Maya Lopez’s debut in the series was a welcome one. Alaqua Cox did a great job becoming a character I cared about and I cannot wait to see where her story goes from here.
It’s also exciting because the series features an Indigenous-American character at its head with a predominantly Indigenous-American cast. That alone is something worth getting intrigued about. And considering how connected she is to Daredevil in the comics, it’s going to be interesting to see where that goes in the MCU.
4. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty
I don’t even know what this could be about but it sounds awesome. And Kang is a character I am very, very enthused about ever since his gripping debut in Loki so, yeah, this sounds like something worth getting thrilled about.
3. Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 3
Eight years ago the Guardians of the Galaxy made their debut and now the end of their story is nearing. It’s honestly a bit worrying considering how emotional the cast keeps getting about this story. And the fact that it is an ending to what we’ve gotten to know for so long. But considering how emotional the trailer supposedly was there’s no way I’m not excited about what this film has in store for us.
2. Loki: Season 2
First of all, the first season of Loki was phenomenal. The way it ended still haunts me and there’s undoubtedly going to be even more Kang the Conqueror in it. Jonathan Majors seems like he’s going to eat this role up as the time-traveling conqueror. And I can’t wait to see how he factors into this story, considering this will be coming out after Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
1. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
If you had told me this would be the upcoming installment that I’m most excited about I probably would’ve laughed. But it sounds like this movie is about to be a really big deal. It’s the first film in Phase V and it’s going to let us know how powerful Kang is and the threat he poses to all of our heroes. I’m so glad this movie is coming out in February.
So yes, those are the installments I’m most excited about but if a Shang-Chi movie or Scarlet Witch movie is announced during D23 I’m going to be very, very excited. I love being a Marvel fan!
