Apple TV is kicking off the festive season with an all-new trailer for the Ryan Reynolds/Will Ferrell Christmas comedy SPIRITED!
Just weeks after the first festive trailer hit the internet, Apple TV is kicking off the festive season with the new trailer for the upcoming musical comedy SPIRITED. The movie is a contemporary tongue-in-cheek take on Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol and boasts the talents of Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell. Whilst looking to break from the traditional Scrooge formula, the movie looks to be one of the standout hits of Apple’s festive calendar. And we are 100% here for it!
The flick looks like an all-singing, all-dancing Christmas sleigh ride that effortlessly captures the spirit of Dickens’ masterwork. But with Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell on hand to fetch the laughter, the movie looks to have a fun and fresh approach that is sure to tantalize audiences everywhere. So, without further ado, grab yourself a Christmas cookie, and let’s do this!
SYNOPSIS
Each Christmas Eve, the Ghost of Christmas Present (Will Ferrell) selects one dark soul to be reformed by a visit from three spirits. But this season, he picked the wrong Scrooge. Clint Briggs (Ryan Reynolds) turns the tables on his ghostly host until Present finds himself reexamining his own past, present and future. For the first time, ‘A Christmas Carol’ is told from the perspective of the ghosts in this hilarious musical twist on the classic Dickens tale.
From director Sean Anders (“Daddy’s Home,” “Instant Family”), written by Sean Anders and John Morris, with original songs by Oscar winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (“La La Land”) and production numbers choreographed by Chloe Arnold (“The Late Late Show with James Corden”), this modern retelling is a sweet and spicy holiday treat.

Aside from Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds, Spirited stars Octavia Spencer, Sunita Mani, Patrick Page, Joe Tippett, Marlow Barkley, and Jen Tullock. The movie has been directed by who pulls double duty as a producer. The production staff is rounded out by Sean Anders and John Morris through Two Grown Men. RELEASE
Well then, I said this after the last trailer, but Spirited looks like it’s going to be an absolute blast. The rapport between Ferrell and Reynolds alone guarantees that we are in for a hilarious Christmas adventure. And when coupled with some truly wonderful dance numbers and some impressive production value, we could be looking at our next Christmas classic. One worthy of Ebeneezer Scrooge himself. And that alone is worthy of a festive celebration!
