Look out monster fans because Godzilla return to claim his title in 2023! Toho announces a new King of the Monsters project!
It’s Godzilla Day, and the festivities wouldn’t be right without Toho announcing something special. But today, the studio upped the ante by announcing an all-new Godzilla project heading our way in 2023. Godzilla’s reign as the King of the Monsters began 68 years ago today and he is still a major player in global audiences’ pop culture experience. But with the festivities well underway and fans hitting play on their favorite monster movie, Toho capitalized at the perfect time.
The untitled movie, which will hit Japanese screens before eventually making it to the United States and other markets, will be Toho’s first effort since Shin Godzilla. The 2016 monster hit was made all the more spectacular by the special effects of Takashi Yamazaki, and Toho has tasked the filmmaker with bringing the new movie to our screens. It comes at a time when the big Z is more popular with audiences than ever before. For the most part, that can be attributed to his stint in Legendary’s MonsterVerse, which Zilla shares with King Kong. But with Toho as the driving force behind the new project, monsters fans will be salivating at the prospect.

THE PLOT
Sadly, little to nothing is known about the plot of the new flick. However, the studio has shared a cool teaser poster on its socials that reveals Godzilla’s tail from the previous outing. A movie that radically detoured away from the source material by changing the fundamentals of the monster’s tail. And the results were certainly eyebrow-raising. Check out the new teaser image below.
So, 2023 is looking like a bumper year for cinephiles and monster fans alike. And Godzilla will be leading the charge, and we are 100% here for it. What will transpire in Toho’s newest addition to the monster legacy remains to be seen. But you can bet your bottom dollar that Future of the Force will be here to bring you all the juicy details.
Happy Godzilla Day!
