The MonsterVerse returns to the big screen in 2024 with Godzilla and Kong fighting side by side against a new threat! Godzilla vs Kong 2 moves forward!
After months of radio silence, Warner Bros. has finally revealed new details about the upcoming Godzilla vs Kong sequel. Until now, the only information released to the press was that director Adam Wingard was returning to the hot seat for another outing and that he had cast Dan Steven in a key role. However, that was WAY back in May.
But today, we are delighted to share a full cast list for the sequel and even drop some juicy details about the plot. And for the next big outing, the Eighth Wonder of the World and the King of the Monsters will be fighting side by side against an entirely new threat. One that threatens our very existence.
The sequel, written by Terry Rossio (Pirates of the Caribbean), Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight), and Simon Barrett (You’re Next) will release on March 15th, 2024, and boasts a story that…
“follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own. The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.”
Aside from Dan Steven, the sequel has cast Fala Chen (Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Alex Ferns (Wrath of Man), and Rachel House (Hunt for the Wilderpeople), as well as returning Godzilla vs. Kong alumni Rebecca Hall (The Night House), Brian Tyree Henry (Bullet Train), and Kaylee Hottle. It is worth noting however that Millie Bobby Brown, Alexander Skarsgård, and Kyle Chandler are all missing from the cast list hinting that the movie will take the MonsterVerse in a new direction.
The film is being produced by Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, Eric Mcleod, Brian Rogers, Thomas Tull, and Jon Jashni, with Wingard executive producing alongside Josh Grode, Jay Ashenfelter, Jen Conroy, Kenji Okuhira, and Yoshimitsu Banno. Tom Holkenborg is once again attached to compose the score. The sequel has already entered production with filming underway on location in Queensland, Australia.
Warner Bros. will release the currently untitled Godzilla Vs Kong sequel on March 15th, 2024.
