The All-New Trailer For Disney+ Series Willow Is Released

Willow is a fantasy adventure that feels like it’s going to be very fun to watch over the next several weeks and as someone who loves a good but casual fantasy series that’s promising.

It’s time to enter the world of Willow.

After a striking lack of fantasy-based entertainment, we got three major fantasy series this year. It began with House of the Dragon in August which managed to revive a fanbase that had all but fizzled out after a dismal conclusion to Game of Throne‘s infamously controversial final season. Following it two weeks later was The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, a series that had to appeal to lifelong Tolkien fans and casual viewers. Both series had their ups and downs, with House of the Dragon gaining unanimous praise among viewers for its tasty twists and highly talked-about romantic subplot featuring Daemon and Rhaenyra Targaryen.

THE RINGS OF POWER

The Rings of Power, in its later episodes, picked up steam with a fantastic sixth episode and a striking finale that still has people talking. And now we have Willow, the brand-new series of a cult classic fantasy film whose specific terms like Nelwyns and Brownies or heroes with bizarre names like Madmartigan aren’t instantly recognizable things. And yet because of its lack of pressure, the Disney+ fantasy series has a chance to maybe take the crown for best fantasy series of the year.

The series debuted this past week with a two-episode premiere that was filled to the brim with classic fantasy tropes; a rising evil and a somewhat spooky prophecy, knights and princesses, marriage proposals for political ambition, passionate romances, and that classic humorous approach that made the movie so much fun to watch.

THE WORLD OF WILLOW

The series has a lot going for it so far. The characters are likable, the story is interesting, and it’s entertaining in a way where it doesn’t feel like you have to watch the episodes multiple times to understand what’s happening. This is a fantasy adventure that feels like it’s going to be very fun to watch over the next several weeks and as someone who loves a good but casual fantasy series that’s promising.

There’s one more fantasy series left in 2022 and that’s the final season of His Dark Materials. It looks like this year will end with a delightful bang in the fantasy department and as someone whose favorite genre is the fantasy genre, I couldn’t be happier.

Willow is streaming on Disney Plus NOW!
