Tsurune delivers a tensed episode as the regional tournament concludes. It is a visual feast and an incredible work on the sound design.”

Last week’s episode of Tsurune started the Regional tournament. And today’s episode concludes this turbulent event.

REGIONALS

This episode solely focuses on the regionals. We get to see the Kiraski team, the Tsujimine team and the main characters as well. It really takes the time to showcase each team’s match. In that way, it reminds me of what the later episodes of Yuri On Ice did. Indeed, we can see how each team perform. The series fully transports us into this tournament. Undoubtedly, it is brilliantly made on every level. It is a visual feast. But it is also a perfect work on the sound design. The sound of each arrow, the cords of the bows, it feels so realistic. Furthermore, all of these sounds help building the tension during these matches.

Though, the art of Kyudo may seem calm, tension lies on whether you can hit the target. And it is all happening in these moments before a character shoots his arrow. The look on their faces, the sounds, there is something absolutely captivating. It is just the Regionals. So, get ready for the Nationals.

And despite fully diving into this tournament, the series doesn’t forget that the Kazemai team is the main characters. For the matches that aren’t theirs, we witness this tournament as they do. This way, we can see how they feel about the other teams. It is quite riveting.

THE TSUJIMINE TEAM

After two small cameos in the first two episodes, Nikaido and his Tsujimine team finally make their entrance. And it goes without saying that they are impressive. Although, Nikaido may seem nice at first with Minato and Seiya as they knew from before, he is not all that nice. He definitely plays on both sides – someone who seems helpful and nice but in fact, he is out for “blood.” He is going to be a tough rival.

KAZEMAI

Even though the Kazemai team is selected for Nationals, it is not all fun for them during the Regionals. In fact, their match in this episode does not go as planned. So troubles are definitely ahead for them. After all in a sports anime, you do need challenges. And today’s ending is a cliffhanger. It is going to be interesting to see how it all unfolds next week.

VERDICT

Tsurune delivers a tensed episode as the regional tournament concludes. It is a visual feast and an incredible work on the sound design.

Tsurune season 2 is now streaming on HIDIVE.
