The Super Mario Bros. Movie Will Level Up Two Days Early in the UK!

Rejoice UK fans because The Super Mario Bros. Movie takes the fight to Bowser TWO DAYS earlier than expected!

Wahoo! The Super Mario Bros. Movie is heading to UK cinemas two days earlier than expected. Universal and Illumination’s big-screen adaptation of the famous Nintendo game will now hit our screens on Wednesday, April 5th jumping up from the initial release of the 7th. It isn’t a massive jump by any stretch of the imagination. But any chance to see it early is always a bonus level! And let’s face it, the adventures of Mario and Luigi deserve nothing less.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie will also release in more than 60 markets around the world under this new date, including China, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Brazil Mexico, the U.K., and Ireland. In addition, the movie will release in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe later in April and further into May. Check out the reveal below.

CAST & CREW

Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (collaborators on Teen Titans Go!, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies) from a screenplay by Matthew Fogel (The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, Minions: The Rise of Gru), the film stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.

The film is produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and by Shigeru Miyamoto for Nintendo. The film will be co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo and released worldwide by Universal Pictures.

CHRIS PRATT

The movie has already attracted its fair share of controversy. Namely the casting of Chris Pratt as Mario. The Hollywood A-lister has come under scrutiny for his interpretation of the character and its lack of his customary Italian accent. Something diehard fans are fiercely passionate about. But after the success of Sonic The Hedgehog and its stellar sequel, game fans are far more patient these days. But will the movie hit the high notes and win over the detractors?

All will be revealed when The Super Mario Bros. Movie hits our screens on April 5th.
