From Christopher Nolan, Oppenheimer features an all-star cast to tell the story of ‘The Father of the Atomic Bomb.’
One of mankind’s greatest and most terrible achievements is the atomic bomb. The weapon has been used twice by the United States against the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And the destruction and devastation were the stuff of nightmares. The weapon was the creation of J. Robert Oppenheimer, an American theoretical physicist credited with being the “father of the atomic bomb” for his role in the Manhattan Project—the World War II undertaking that developed the first nuclear weapons.
Director Christopher Nolan is bringing the story to the screen later this year with Oppenheimer. The film will tell the story of the scientist and the push to develop his creation. Cillian Murphy plays Oppenheimer alongside an all-star cast that includes Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, and Rami Malek. A new trailer for the film has dropped online today.
THE PREMISE
The film follows the life of theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, the director of the Los Alamos Laboratory during the Manhattan Project in World War II, and his contributions that led to the creation of the atomic bomb.
Oppenheimer, from Universal Pictures, will be dropping into theaters on July 21st.
