Clone Trooper Jesse is the latest clone figure from The Clone Wars to be released. But can this latest addition to the 501st Batallion take the fight to the Separatist Alliance before the full of the Republic? Let’s find out.

THE BOX AND ACCESSORIES

As usual with Star Wars, you get the usual black collectible box with a promotional picture of the figure. For the figures from The Clone Wars, the colored strip is yellow and blue.

It is a clone trooper so he does come with a good amount of accessories. Hot Toys has never disappointed us with clones. The display base is your usual franchise interior base and you have the nameplate. It is written Clone Trooper Jesse, it’s not incorrect but the figure is the ARC Trooper variant so it would have been better to write ARC Trooper Jesse on the nameplate. This is a little nitpick on my part but it’s not a problem.

Then, he has seven hands – two hands to hold the weapons, the finger order hand, an opened hand, and two relaxed hands. In terms of weapons, he comes with two DC-17 hand blasters and one DC-15S blaster. It’s precisely the same weapons we have seen with other clone figures. He also comes with a pair of macrobinoculars that you can attach to his helmet and the ARC Trooper backpack. It is nicely sculpted with a little bit of weathering.

Finally, he has a holoprojector with two holograms – one hologram of Darth Sidious to create an Order 66 scene and a hologram of a Republic Gunship.

THE FIGURE

This is the first time we get an ARC Trooper figure. The base of the armor is the same as other clone figures. But some pieces change. The shinbone and foot armor is reinforced, there is an additional piece of armor on the chest with a new pauldron and the forearms are also different. The belt has accessory pouches and the kama is a different one as well. As you can see there are some important changes.

Concerning the kama, it uses pleather, unlike Captain Rex’s kama. It is not exactly ideal to have that on a clone but you can still get some great poses without damaging it. Moreover, the left forearm armor is similar to the usual clone forearm but like the boots, it’s been reinforced. The other forearm is quite different. It has a Mandalorian feel to it with the whistling bird missile launcher. There are also some buttons but not the same ones that you find on other clone forearms. These are colored.

I think Hot Toys has done a great job with this one. As usual with clones, they have applied a bit of weathering on the armor with some battle scratches. It gives these clones a veteran look. Plus, the helmet markings are great, it has a unique design so I am really glad Hot Toys decided to give us Jesse.

THE HEADSCULPT

The headsculpt was made by Viva Lai and painted by JC Hong. It is the same Temuera Morrison headsculpt that we have seen before except they adapted the haircut. Here we have a bald Temuera Morrison with a Republic symbol tattoo. It is simply amazing! The head and the neck are two separate pieces which means you have a better articulation range.
