“Despite the lack of accessories, this is the ultimate Hot Toys Scarlet Witch figure. The iconic costume is wonderful and the headsculpt is simply amazing!”
After two years of waiting the Hot Toys Scarlet Witch figure from WandaVision is finally here! Was it worth the wait?
THE BOX AND ACCESSORIES
The box has the same design as Vision from WandaVision. It features a promotional drawing of the character with the hex opening on each side. And when you remove the first part of the box, at the back you can see several stills from the series inside televisions like in some of the character posters of the series.
There are not a lot of accessories with this figure and that’s a bit disappointing. For one, I think they should have included a background with the hex as they did with Vision. The display base has the same design as the Vision one. You have an effect of the hex opening up and in the middle the symbol of the character – here the symbol of the Scarlet Witch. It is a nice design. Then, she only has eight hands – four normal hands and four hands with red translucent fingertips.
That is not a lot of normal hands, they could have at least included a pair of fist hands. So, there are two open hands and two witchcraft hands. And for the red hands, there are two pairs of witchcraft hands. There are also two ability-using effects that you can attach to the hands. And finally, she comes with the Darkhold and I have to say it looks great. There are actually some pages that you can turn. Hot Toys has done a fantastic job with this accessory. It is highly detailed.
It has been a long wait for this figure but it doesn’t disappoint. The Scarlet Witch costume is one of my favorite MCU costumes. Hot Toys has done a great job to recreate it in figure format. It looks beautiful. There is a lot of detail on the suit. The boots are two separate pieces, so you have feet articulation. There is a LED light-up effect for the hands when you use the red ones. You just have to remove the piece of fabric on her arms. When I tried, the fabric made a weird noise as if it was about to tear up so I didn’t try the batteries, do it at your own risk. Considering the type of fabric used, I recommend being careful with poses.
Obviously, the shoulders are not seamless so you can see the separation between the bust and the arms. It doesn’t look great but at least you have a better articulation range. And I do think without the cape, something is missing from the costume. It’s great but not perfect. While with the cape, it’s the perfect Scarlet Witch! I do intend to display her with the cape on. When you display her with the cape, you don’t see the separation between the bust and the arms. Both the cape and the skirt have wires inside so you can pose it. The cape has a beautiful motif, it’s always about the details with Hot Toys.
The headsculpt was made by Jang So Young and painted by JC Hong. It is amazing! This sculpture is truly spot-on. This is the best Wanda sculpt we got so far! This looks exactly like Elizabeth Olsen, the likeness is all there. Plus, she has sculpted hair, so this is a win for me. The Scarlet Witch’s crown is also nicely sculpted on her head. I am truly impressed with this headsculpt. The only thing missing here is the separate rolling eyeballs. With the cape on, the articulation for the head is almost impossible. Though without the cape, she can look on each side and look down.
Despite the lack of accessories, this is the ultimate Wanda figure. The Scarlet Witch costume is wonderful and the headsculpt is simply amazing!
