Get your first look at the trailer for Charlotte Regan’s joyful comedy SCRAPPER – coming to UK cinemas on August 25

Picturehouse Entertainment has dropped the fun new trailer for Charlotte Regan’s joyful comedy SCRAPPER. The movie is an uplifting story that follows a twelve-year-old girl who finds herself living alone after her beloved mother passes away. But when her estranged Father appears out of the blue, she is forced to confront reality. The movie is touted as a dreamy, witty, and unmissable tale of family and fresh starts. And with its heartfelt and uplighting story is a shoo-in to hit the top of our summer watchlist.

 SYNOPSIS

It’s said that it takes a village to raise a child but 12-year-old Georgie (Lola Campbell) has other ideas. Living alone since her beloved mum died, Georgie fills the flat they shared with her own special magic. But when her absent father Jason (Harris Dickinson) turns up out of the blue, she’s forced to confront reality. A dreamy, witty, and unmissable tale of family and fresh starts, SCRAPPER is a film that believes life’s not so much about chasing rainbows but snatching fistfuls in both hands.

SUNDANCE

SCRAPPER received its World Premiere at Sundance in January 2023 where it won the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize. It marks the incredible feature debut from writer / director Charlotte Regan, an upcoming London-based filmmaker who began her career at 15 shooting low budget music promos for her peers before moving on to become a successful music video director, shooting videos for artists that have included Stereophonics, Mumford & Sons, Wretch 32 and Wilkinson. She has also established herself as an acclaimed short filmmaker, with her first short film Standby selected for TIFF, nominated for a BAFTA and winning a BFI Future Film Award. In 2020 she was named one of Screen’s Stars of Tomorrow.

SCRAPPER stars 2022 BAFTA Rising Star-nominee Harris Dickinson (Triangle of Sadness, Beach Rats, Where the Crawdads Sing) and newcomer Lola Campbell. It has been produced by Theo Barrowclough (Calm with Horses) with Eva Yates, Farhana Bhula, Michael Fassbender, Conor McCaughan, Daniel Emmerson and Jim Reeve as Executive Producers. Molly Manning Walker, who won the coveted Un Certain Regard newcomer prize at Cannes this year for her feature debut How to Have Sex is the Director of Photography.

RELEASE

This movie looks exceptional and is a shoo-in to tantalize kids for hours during those hot summer nights. The subject matter will resonate with scores of families around the country and will unite fathers and daughters everywhere with its positive message. And in this day and age, that is in short supply. And with Charlotte Regan serving as the driving force behind the film, it looks set to be something truly special.

SCRAPPER will release in UK and Ireland cinemas on August 25 and will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival: London on July 6.
