As someone who’s always regarded Loki as one of the greatest characters in the MCU, the new trailer has brought me so much joy.
Everyone’s favorite God of Mischief is back in a fantastic brand-new trailer for the second season of what many will claim of the MCU’s greatest show, Loki. The first season was mind-bogglingly good, with a cast of fantastic characters, a great story, and many delightful plot twists. It is also one of the few post-Endgame installments whose ramifications are felt throughout the franchise.
The trailer for Loki‘s second season delivers a dazzling display of visuals, an interesting plot, and more variants which is also really fun. But what else can be discerned from this intriguing, in-depth first look at Loki’s newest adventure? Let’s find out.

Time-slipping
Apparently, the MCU now has its first version of “glitching,” as we’ve seen displayed in the Spider-Verse films in the form of something called time slipping. Considering that we’ve seen our main variant traverse multiple realities, it makes sense that something would start happening to him. But unlike Spider-Verse’s “glitching,” time slipping seems to take Loki to different places in time. Adding another obstacle in his path as he takes on Kang’s variants.

New Adventures
One of the fun things about the first season was seeing Mobius and Loki traverse the timeline in that second episode, ‘The Variant.’ It seems like they are back to their timely escapades in an even grander fashion as they hurry through time to stop the coming war. For all of us that loved their banter, to see that this season will feature even more time with them is an exciting development.
Eating some Colorful Otherworldly Pie
I noticed this small detail in the trailer, which speaks to the idea that Loki must reform his friendship with Mobius in this second season. In the first season, the God of Mischief had his first sincere bonding moment with Mobius via their lunch breaks in the second episode. It’s where we learn that Mobius likes jet skis and where we get to see Mobius begin to understand Loki’s underrated ingenuity.
Now their friendship has been reset, considering that Loki found himself in another reality, and this pie scene seems like a clue that we’ll get some lovable friendship-building again between the two.

Is Mobius Trying to Fix the Timeline?
At one point, we see Mobius and Ke Huy Quan’s new character, OB, working on something very interesting. Mobius, wrapped in a fortified space suit, appears, walking toward a strange destination in the middle of space. It looks like the very conduit from which the timelines are created, giving me a reason to believe that they could be trying to manually fix the timelines to halt Kang’s imminent multiversal war.
Sylvie is Back
One of the breakout stars of the first season was Sylvie. Who turned out to be just as fascinating as Tom Hiddleston’s version of the character. In the first season, her mission was to make the people who stole her life from her pay. In fulfilling this mission, she triggered what will be a massive repercussion thanks to Kang’s rise. And the impending doom that follows his conquests.
The trailer gives us glimpses of Sylvie, who appears different, with longer hair and a more subdued expression. It makes me wonder, do we even know if this is our Sylvie from Season 1? She seemed to believe she was the only female Goddess of Mischief in the multiverse. But there’s a high chance she could be wrong. Will this season introduce us to even more lovable renditions of her? Let’s hope so.

“We are Gods.”
At the end of Season 1, He Who Remains offers Loki and Sylvie the ultimate chance at power. The chance to control the timeline so that he could retire. They chose otherwise, but now a couple of lines in the new trailer hint at the two variants maybe embracing that power. Sylvie tells Loki, “Whatever we do, we’re playing God,” to which he responds, “We are Gods.” These lines hint at their plan to take down Kang and become the multiverse’s guardians. Whether they succeed or not remains to be seen.
Ravonna Renslayer Is On a Mission
While she’s not featured heavily in the trailer, it seems that Renslayer is still trying to discover “free will.” We know that Ms. Minutes (and potentially Kang) sent her on this mission. In the comics, she became Kang’s love interest/ally. Will they adapt this storyline or give her a new story? One that shows her take on the multiversal warlord. We’ll have to wait and see.

Loki’s Embracing His Potential
Throughout Loki’s history in the MCU, we’ve seen him use his powers for menial purposes. Whether to make mirror images of himself or to display fireworks from his palms. However, after meeting Sylvie and the Classic version of himself, he realized that his power was far greater than he ever anticipated.
In the trailer, we now see him using his abilities more effectively. He’s beginning to look like a full-on Asgardian sorcerer. As a fan of the character, this is very exciting indeed.
War is Coming
While Kang’s Victor Timely variant (or variants) are not featured heavily in this trailer, his presence is felt throughout. As of right now, we know he’s the main antagonist. And we know he’s now over the TVA. Will we get an all-out miniature war in this second season as the God of Mischief tries to take him down? The trailer seems to suggest so with some intriguing images like what appears to be a cab hurtling into a window of the TVA.
With Avengers: The Kang Dynasty eventually arriving that no matter what happens in this series, the multiversal war will not be stopped in one defeat. Kang is infinite and, because of that, he is a terrifying threat.

As someone who’s always regarded Loki as one of the greatest characters in the MCU, this trailer today has brought me so much joy. I cannot wait to see where this story leads and how it’ll further affect the MCU as a whole. And if it’s anything like the first season, we are in for quite an unpredictable, super-enjoyable treat.
