“Ahsoka continues to be the best Star Wars series, there is no contest. It delivers on every level. This is an action-packed episode with some impressive lightsaber fights. And the ending is mind-blowing.”
It’s Wednesday so this means it is time for our weekly dose of Star Wars with the fourth episode of Ahsoka!
LIGHTSABER DUELS

Episode 3 ended with Ahsoka and Sabine landing on Seatos having to repair their ship. This one picks up where we left off. And things are getting heated. Indeed, this episode is an action-packed one with some impressive lightsaber fights. We get Ahsoka vs Marrok, Sabine vs Shin and Ahsoka vs Baylan. It just feels great to see lightsaber fights in live-action again. Undoubtedly, since its first episode, this series has heavily delivered on this side. The choreography is on point! If you love lightsaber duels, this episode is for you.
Sadly, Ray Stevenson left us earlier this year, I wish he could see the fans praising him for his portrayal of Baylan. Stevenson is the performer of the week with his performance in this episode. His presence on screen is quite imposing. Baylan is already a memorable Star Wars villain. It’s thanks to Filoni’s scripts and Stevenson’s performance. I think this villain is compelling because he is a layered character. And Stevenson conveys with his acting the complexity of the character. I also love his fighting, it’s brutal. This makes the character a difficult enemy to fight.

Concerning Marrok, if you have followed discourse online, there have been a lot of theories. But Dave Filoni knows better and making Marrok just being Marrok was the right choice. But fans of animated series may have noticed something interesting about him. Nightsister magic! It’s not the first time a nightsister has resuscitated the dead. It’s so exciting to see this in live-action!
Furthermore, with each episode, we see Sabine and Ahsoka’s bond evolving and them mending their problems. Their master-apprentice relationship is so interesting. In the end, they both need each other. Ahsoka knows she can’t do all of this on her own, and she needs her apprentice to help her. Sabine needs someone like Ahsoka to guide her.
ONCE A REBEL, ALWAYS A REBEL

Moreover, this episode once again features the New Republic fleet. These shots are so beautiful, it sends me back to the Return of the Jedi. I doubt we will see it in action in the series but it already prepares us for the upcoming Mando-verse film. Hera is still the character we all loved from Star Wars Rebels. She is a leader but she also cares about her friends. Thus, if the New Republic won’t act, she will.
And who could follow her? Carson Teva (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee), of course! I love seeing this character. He always deserves more screen time. Plus, it feels right for him to work with Hera, they both believe that something is coming and they don’t mind disobeying orders for what’s right. Seeing X-wings flying next to the Ghost in live-action is another dream come true. This series is everything I wanted it to be and so much more.
Jacen is once again featured in this episode. It’s so good to see him going on missions with his mother and Chopper. He reminds me a lot of Kanan.
A FAMILIAR FACE

Additionally, you are not prepared for the ending scene. I honestly couldn’t believe what I was watching. I was left with tears of happiness for the next ten minutes. The tears couldn’t stop! It’s safe to say that Dave Filoni is the best at doing Star Wars. Thank you, Dave, thank you so much! And also thank you Peter Ramsey for directing this episode.
Having Anakin talking to Ahsoka in live-action is EVERYTHING. It’s absolutely priceless to see Hayden Christensen as Anakin talking to Ahsoka played by Rosario Dawson. Christensen saying the words ‘snips,’ I lost it during this moment, this is when I started to cry even before seeing him. And this happens in the world between worlds, a concept that fans from Star Wars Rebels know very well. I think next week’s episode is going to be a big episode and even more emotional. But until then, I think we all are going to theorize why Ahsoka ends up in this place again and why Anakin is there. In Star Wars Rebels, the world between worlds was used for Ezra to save Ahsoka and to learn that he had to let go of Kanan. So, what will be its purpose for Ahsoka?
VERDICT
Ahsoka continues to be the best Star Wars series, there is no contest. It delivers on every level. This is an action-packed episode with some impressive lightsaber fights. And the ending is absolutely mind-blowing.
