Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry Defends Atlantis from the rage of Black Manta in the new trailer for DC’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

The new trailer for AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM has emerged from the depths. Although the DC release slate has had a torrid time at the box office lately, the studio is pushing ahead with its final DC release in 2023. And expectations are high. James Wan’s hotly anticipated sequel reunites Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry with his arch nemesis Black Manta who has launched a bitter crusade of revenge. And of course, the divisive decision to continue filming with Amber Heard as Mera has sparked debate amongst the fanbase. But with the original movie being regarded so highly by DC fans, can this sequel overcome the odds?

Thankfully, the new trailer has revealed our first look at the new blockbuster. And if you were hoping to return to Atlantis and experience a true visual spectacle, you’re in luck! Like its predecessor, Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom appears to be a feast for the eyes. Packed to the brim with underwater wonders. And what’s more, we can all look forward to the ultimate face-off between Arthur Curry and his nemesis Black Manta. But don’t take my word for it. Scroll down and hit play on the trailer below.

SYNOPSIS

Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.

CAST & CREW

The sequel is directed by James Wan and stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman. Also returning for the sequel is Patrick Wilson as Orm Marius, Amber Heard as Mera, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as David Kane / Black Manta, and Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus. Rounding out the returning cast is Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin, Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry, and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna. New additions to the sequel are Vincent Regan as Atlan, Jani Zhao as Stingray, and Indya Moore as Karshon.
