Netflix has dropped the first trailer for The Crown – The Final Season which promises to explore the final days of Princess Diana
At long last, Netflix has shared the trailer for the final season of THE CROWN, and it promises to be an emotional farewell. With all the pageantry of Queen Elizabeth’s passing coming to a close and King Charles now taking on his official duties as monarch, the series is back with a bang. And today, Netflix has shared our first look at the upcoming season that promises to explore the most turbulent period in Royal history. The final weeks leading up to the death of Diana, Princess of Wales on Aug. 31, 1997.
Like previous seasons, the final season has been split into two parts. The opening four episodes arrive on November 17th, while the remaining episodes will bring some festive cheer when they release on December 14th.
The intense trailer teases the escalation of paparazzi interest in Diana and her burgeoning relationship with Dodi Fayed (Khalid Abdalla), as well as the royal family’s struggle to read the public mood in the aftermath of her devastating accident. We also glimpse Elizabeth Debicki’s Princess Diana re-creating one of the most famous photographs of the beloved Royal. The shot reveals Diana on the edge of the diving board of the yacht, clad in a blue swimsuit. The series finale promises to be an emotional rollercoaster ride. But before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s check out the new trailer below.
THE FINAL SEASON
The significance of the series entering one of the most scrutinized and poured-over periods in royal modern history cannot be understated. Diana’s death was a national tragedy. Mourners came from far and wide to attend what was arguably the biggest Royal funeral of the modern era. But it’s refreshing to see the series celebrating Diana’s life and showcasing her paternal side as she helps William and Harry navigate their growing responsibilities. And it is this vision of Royal perfection that adorns the latest glossy poster for the series. Check it out below.
