The feature film from George Amponsah, Gassed Up, wins the Audience Award at the BFI LFF 2023! In cinemas on February 9th, 2024.

The feature film from director George Amponsah, Gassed Up isn’t in cinemas until February 9th of 2024. But that hasn’t stopped it from becoming an award winner already. The film premiered at the 2023 BFI London Film Festival. The movie has been announced as the official winner of the Audience Award for Best Feature at BFI LFF 2023. The film is being distributed by Vertigo Releasing.



Set in London, the film follows a group of young men in a moped gang, who, desperate to make ends meet, have turned to petty theft. Written by Archie Maddocks and Taz Skylar, it features an exciting young cast, including Stephen Odubola (Blue Story), Taz Skylar (One Piece) and singer Mae Muller, as well as a host of recognisable names, including Harry Pinero, Yung Filly and Ms Banks.

At the centre of the story is 20-year-old Ash (Odubola) who is trying to support his younger sister and help his struggling mother. Fighting to balance his pure intentions and the allure of fast cash, he and his friends soon get drawn into the web of an Albanian crime family. He must choose between loyalty to his friends and family, and the draw of a fast, thrilling lifestyle.


The film stars Stephen Odubola, Taz Skylar, Steve Toussaint, Craige Middleburg,
Jelena Gavrilovic, Mohammed Mansaray, Tobias Jowett, Tomi May, Ben Shafik, Rawdat Quadri, with Mae Muller, with Yung Filly, with Harry Pinero, and Ms Banks.

Gassed Up is directed by George Amonsah, written by Archie Maddocks and Taz Skylar. The producers on the film are Rupert Preston, Bart Ruspoli, Hester Ruoff, Stefan D’Bart and Ed Caffrey. Co-Produced by Ward Trowman, the movie is executive produced by Nigel Williams / Stephen Hole and Michael Gilmore / Waleed Maisery.

Gassed Up will be coming to UK cinemas on 9th February, 2024.
