Gassed Up is the latest film from documentary filmmaker George Amponsah in his cinematic debut. The movie will be screening on October 10th and Friday, October 13th at the BFI London Film Festival. It will then see a cinematic release in 2024. Set in London, the film follows a group of young men in a moped gang. Who turn to petty crime to make ends meet. At the movie’s heart is a 20-year-old man desperately trying to support his mother and younger sister. Featuring a cast of recognizable names, the film stars Stephen Odubola. Vertigo Releasing, who are handling the film, have released a new poster and trailer for the movie.

SYNOPSIS

Set in London, the film follows a group of young men in a moped gang, who, desperate to make ends meet, have turned to petty theft. Written by Archie Maddocks and Taz Skylar, it features an exciting young cast, including Stephen Odubola (Blue Story), Taz Skylar (One Piece) and singer Mae Muller, as well as a host of recognisable names, including Harry Pinero, Yung Filly and Ms Banks.

At the centre of the story is 20-year-old Ash (Odubola) who is trying to support his younger sister and help his struggling mother. While fighting to balance his pure intentions and the allure of fast cash, he and his friends soon get drawn into the web of an Albanian crime family. He must choose between loyalty to his friends and family, and the draw of a fast, thrilling lifestyle.

THE CAST AND CREW

The film features a cast including Stephen Odubola, Taz Skylar, Steve Toussaint, Craige Middleburg, Jelena Gavrilovic, Mohammed Mansaray, Tobias Jowett, Tomi May, Ben Shafik, and Rawdat Quadri. With Mae Muller, Yung Filly, Harry Pinero, and Ms Banks.  Directed by George Amponsah from a screenplay by Archie Maddocks and Taz Skylar. It is produced by Rupert Preston, Bart Ruspoli, Hester Ruoff, Stefan D’Bart and Ed Caffrey with Ward Trowman co-producing. While Nigel Williams / Stephen Hole and Michael Gilmore / Waleed Maisery are executive producers.

Gassed Up is screening at the BFI London Film Festival on Tuesday 10th and Friday, 13th October and will have a UK cinematic release in 2024.
