Sony’s long-awaited sequel to Ghostbusters Afterlife has released another cryptic new teaser and all-new artwork
Who you gonna call? After last week’s cryptic teaser and rumors that a new trailer will be dropping within days, the Ghostbusters social channels are ramping up the speculation. Just days after we were teased with “something strange is coming soon” the new tease declares “There’s a chill in the air.” What’s more, the mysterious new teaser comes complete with some fresh artwork featuring the iconic Ghostbusters logo being attacked by forming ice crystals.
The new artwork will only fuel speculation that the AFTERLIFE sequel will be titled GHOSTBUSTERS: FROZEN KINGDOM. The potential title was leaked across social media last week sending fans into a heated debate about its quality. Some love it. Others hate it. Either way, the flurry of teasers is hinting that the first trailer for the sequel is imminent. And I cannot wait to get my first look. But don’t take my word for it. Scroll down and watch the cryptic teaser for yourself.
WHO YA GONNA CALL?
Working under the working title GHOSTBUSTERS: FIREHOUSE, the long-awaited sequel will be the fourth outing for the original superstars of the supernatural. The movie will see the return of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, Finn Wolfhard, McKenna Grace, Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd, Logan Kim, and Celeste O’Connor who all reprise their respective roles. Joining the cast for this outing are Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, James Acaster, and Emily Alyn Lind. And finally, returning to the role of Walter Peck for the first time since the original Ghostbusters is screen legend William Atherton.
Very little is known about the plot of the sequel. Those details are a closely guarded secret and safely locked away in the containment unit. However, with the franchise’s iconic logo encased in ice, a chilling storyline is expected to herald a ghostly winter in New York City. And only the legendary Ghostbusters can save the day!
REITMAN WITHDRAWAL
Originally, Jason Reitman was going to take the director’s chair. After all, he had captured lightning in a bottle with the last outing. But in a shocking twist, Gil Kenan has officially taken on the burden of steering the sequel to the screen. And he will be directing from a storyline penned by the duo. But can they do the unthinkable and deliver another win for the fans? That remains to be seen. But with the same team of creatives on hand to bring the project home, surely a sensational new adventure will greet us when Ghostbusters: Firehouse arrives in cinemas on March 29, 2024. The film was initially slated to release this December. But sadly, the project was pushed from its release as a result of the SAG-AFTRA strikes.
