This week on The Official Chart, Indiana Jones fights back, and The Polar Express arrives, leaving Oppenheimer to reign at the top!

THE TOP TEN

The chart once again has a major shift. No less than four titles have re-entered the top ten placings, dislodging some big names. We have to say goodbye to Five Nights At Freddy’s, The Creator, Prey, and Mission: Impossible-Dead Reckoning Part One. But what are these returning titles, and where have they entered? Jump on the back of Santa’s sleigh as we find out.

OPPENHEIMER MAKES IT A TRIPLE!

Oppenheimer makes it to a third week as the UK’s Number 1 film. Just 1,700 sales separate the Number 1 and Number 2 entries this week. Oppenheimer leads as the biggest film of the week on digital download but also continues to see strong physical sales.

INDIANA JONES RETURNS!

Despite putting up some tough competition,  Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny has to settle for second place. The fifth instalment of the Indiana Jones franchise – and former Number 1 itself – flies back up 33 places following its release on physical formats. The film is well ahead on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD copies with more than 30,000 physical copies of the film sold this week. (Read our review here.)

IT’S LOVE ACTUALLY AT NUMBER 3!

Love Actually climbs to a brand-new peak of Number 3.

ELF MAKES IT’S TRADITIONAL APPEARANCE!

You could have laid money on it! Former Number 1 Elf returns again at Number 4.

THE EQUALIZER IS SHOT DOWN!

Action threequel The Equalizer 3 is shot down this week to Number 5.

VIOLENT NIGHT CONTINUES!

The 2022 comedy-thriller Violent Night lifts two to a new peak to Number 6. (Read our review here.)

THE POLAR EXPRESS STEAMS BACK INTO THE CHART!

The Polar Express is back in the Top 10 for the first time since last Christmas, rising seven places to Number 7.

HERCULE POIROT INVESTIGATES THE TOP TEN AGAIN!

The Hercule Poirot mystery A Haunting in Venice rises 15 places to re-enter the chart at Number 8. (Read our review here.)

NATIVITY IS ON THE RISE!

Our final Christmas entry in the Top 10 is Nativity! which rises one place to Number 9.

BARBIE IS HANGING ON!

One of 2023’s biggest blockbusters, Barbie manages to hold onto a top ten place as it falls to Number 10. (Read our review here.)

TIME FOR A REST!

Santa has delivered some early movie presents and now needs a rest until next week. The battle to be the Christmas number one title is firmly on. This week, Expend4bles has thrown its hat into the ring by coming off of PVOD and onto retail. (Read our review here.) And there are plenty of Christmas movies waiting in the wings to spring a last-minute assault on the top spot. What will triumph in the battle for the top spot at Christmas? Next week’s chart will reveal the winner, so until then…
