The Book of Eli is opening again for an all-new prequel series starring John Boyega
The Book of Eli is opening again. Deadline is reporting that a prequel TV show based on the movie Book of Eli is in the works.
The Book of Eli, released in 2010, was directed by The Hughes Brothers and starred Denzel Washington as Eli. It was a post-apocalyptic Neo-Western that told the story of a nomad who was traveling west on a mission to deliver a sacred book. The film also starred Gary Oldman as the main antagonist who seeks to procure the book for himself, Mila Kunis, Ray Stevenson, Jennifer Beals, Malcolm McDowell, and others.
The film did quite well at the box office, pulling in over $150 million on an $80 budget.

PREQUEL SERIES
The upcoming TV series will be a prequel to the movie. It will reportedly be set 30 years before the events of the movie, landing right about the time that the apocalypse occurred. The series will explore Eli’s backstory.
According to reports, John Boyega is set to star as the titular character. Boyega, most well-known as Finn in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, will also be an executive producer on the series. Also in the executive producer role will be the movie’s original directors, The Hughes Brothers. Gary Whitta, the film’s writer, is the creator of the TV series.
