Be nice…until it’s time to not be nice. The official poster for the Road House remake punches its way online. It is hitting Prime Video on March 21st.
Those of us of a certain age will remember the movie Road House. The late Patrick Swayze starred as the bouncer/ cooler Dalton in what is one of the best films he made in his career. Ok, so Dalton is, in reality, nothing more than a paid thug. But we can’t help cheering him on as he takes down the rowdy, the mean drunks, and the unscrupulous businessman determined to tighten his grip on the small town. By any means necessary. With the legendary Sam Elliott in support, the film happens to be one of my favorite films of the late 1980s.

Now though, Dalton is back again. Amazon Studios is bringing us a new version of the classic film with a remake/ reimagining. Again titled Road House, this new version sees Jake Gyllenhaal take on the role of Dalton. This time though, the character is an ex-UFC fighter. With a cast that includes Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams, Joaquim de Almeida, and Conor McGregor, the film could be a lot of fun. The trailer for the movie is dropping tomorrow. However, the official poster for the film has been made available today.

SYNOPSIS
In this adrenaline-fueled reimagining of the 80s cult classic, ex-UFC fighter Dalton (Jake Gyllenhaal) takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse, only to discover that this paradise is not all it seems.

THOUGHTS
Those who remember or are fans of the original movie will get a kick out of the poster. Not only have they kept the brilliant neon font of the original movie’s poster, but they’ve thrown a few easter eggs to boot. Take a look at the poster. On the back wall, there are Dalton’s three rules as stated in the 1989 film. A Double Deuce shot glass is sitting on the bar. And eagle-eyed fans will see a certain piece of graffiti scrawled on the bar panelling. There are more but it’s best if you find them for yourselves. But I did get a kick out of seeing the nods to the original movie.

Road House will be hitting Prime Video on March 21st. Check back tomorrow when we will cover the first trailer for the new version of the classic movie.
