The big-screen adventures of The Mandalorian & Grogu will be heading to cinemas in 2026. This is the way!
It’s been a minute since we all sat down to enjoy Star Wars in a multiplex. The Rise of Skywalker was the last major motion picture to feed our appetite back in 2019. Since then, Din Djarin and Grogu have been keeping us on life support on Disney+ until the franchise returns to the big screen where it belongs.
A few weeks back, Lucasfilm shocked the world when they announced that THE MANDALORIAN & GROGU will be one of the first major motion picture events of the post-Skywalker saga. Making the transition to the big screen is a daunting challenge. But with Jon Favreau in the directorial hot seat, the IP is in the right hands. But when will Mando be hitting the silver screen? That is the burning question. But thanks to Disney’s Q1 earnings call, Bob Iger has confirmed that the duo will be making the leap into theatres in 2026.

STAR WARS RETURNS TO THE BIG SCREEN!
Disney currently has two Star Wars movies on the schedule for 2026: May 22, 2026, and December 18, 2026. Bob Iger’s comment (per Erik Davis) hints that Mando will be filling the May slot. The second slot is widely expected to be filled by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s Rey Skywalker: New Jedi Order movie. However, Dave Filoni is also working on a big screen project designed to culminate the MandoVerse. So we should never rule out George Lucas’ star pupil.
