May The 4th: The Mighty Wookiee Chewbacca is Coming to the Fortnite x Star Wars Season

Lucasfilm and Epic Games have unveiled a first look at the mighty Wookiee Chewbacca, who will appear in the Fortnite x Star Wars collaboration on May 3rd.
Exciting news for fans of Fortnite and Star Wars! Epic Games and Lucasfilm have confirmed the worst-kept secret in gaming circles. Han Solo’s legendary co-pilot – the mighty Wookiee Chewbacca, is coming to Fortnite. The new collaboration is set to launch on May 3, perfectly timed for the forthcoming “May The Fourth” celebrations.
News of Chewie’s arrival was teased several weeks ago when Epic Games showcased our first look at a Wookiee Bowcaster. The game is adding the iconic weapon this weekend as a mythical weapon. However, just days after LEGO hinted at the Wookiee’s arrival, the game developer has thrown caution to the wind and fully revealed Han’s loyal sidekick. Epic unveiled a stunning teaser image of the Wookiee charging into battle in a snowy terrain, potentially Hoth. Take a look at the picture below and decide for yourself.
WOOKIEE RAGE
The impressive image suggests that the version of the powerful Wookiee character featured in the game is based on his appearance in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, as indicated by his distinctively shaped head. In A NEW HOPE, Chewbacca’s head appears more rounded, but by the time we reach the events of Empire, his head has become more prominent and shaggy. Moreover, every teaser to date hints that C-3PO is also joining the game.
Based on the latest teaser, Threepio could be included in the game as a back bling for Chewbacca. In the movie “The Empire Strikes Back,” Threepio is hit by a blaster shot from an Imperial Stormtrooper and is subsequently dismantled. As a result, Chewbacca carries Threepio’s wreckage on his back. Just imagine running into battle as Chewie with C-3PO attached to your back!
LANDO LANDS
It is worth noting that the upcoming Fortnite collaboration for May 4th will not only feature Chewbacca but also the charismatic Lando Calrissian from the Original Trilogy. This addition of Lando further confirms the connection between Fortnite and The Empire Strikes Back. Lando will wear his Bespin Administrator attire from Episode V, indicating that the collaboration will primarily focus on the Original Trilogy. You can take a look at Lando’s appearance below.
PREVIOUS COLLABORATIONS
It’s worth noting that the event above is just one among many that the duo has collaborated on. They have previously teamed up to offer an exclusive Find the Force Quest pack. All new cosmetics and additional features were unlocked after completing tasks. This made May 4th of the previous year a day to remember. Furthermore, users willing to pay an extra 1,000 V-Bucks were granted access to the Premium Reward Track. This offered even greater rewards. So, fans will hope for another exciting quest pack to grab some exclusive skins and cosmetics.
So far, the Original Trilogy has been represented by Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, and the Imperial Stormtrooper. The Mando-Verse has been represented by Boba Fett, Fennec Shand, Krrsantan, and The Mandalorian. Kylo Ren, Zorii Bliss, Finn, the Sith Trooper, and Rey Skywalker have joined the fight for the Sequel Trilogy. Most recently, a group of Clone Troopers, alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Padmé Amidala, Ahsoka Tano, and Darth Maul, have been added to the collection from the Prequel era.

Fortnite and Lucasfilm just delivered an update worthy of the Force. Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian are already locked in. But who will be next? A leaked LEGO image has already revealed the Imperial Death Trooper and a new Princess Leia Organa skin is rumored to be joining the party. Could a Rogue One crossover be in the pipeline?
