Can you feel the wind picking up? If you can, then you know that something is coming. That something is Twisters. The movie, a standalone sequel to the 1996 film Twister, will be blowing into cinemas on July 19th. Featuring a cast that includes Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell and Anthony Ramos, the new film is directed by directed by Lee Isaac Chung with a screenplay by Mark L. Smith from a story by Joseph Kosinski.

Although the film doesn’t have much in common (that we know of at the moment) with the original movie, the screenplay is based on Characters created by Michael Crichton and Anne-Marie Martin. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley produce the film with Universal Pictures distributing in the United States. While Warner Bros. is distributing the film worldwide, reversing the distribution rights of the first film. A new trailer and poster for the film have been released. Let’s take another look at the dark side of nature.
YOU WANT MORE?
The trailer above is the Warner Bros. release trailer. But the Universal version is different, featuring some different footage. Do you want more? Then check this out below.
IS IT REALLY A STANDALONE?
It has been said that the film hasn’t got much in common with the original film. You wanna bet? Eagle-eyed viewers and fans of the original film will spot various links back to the 1996 movie. The truck, the equipment (Dorothy), and some other easter eggs or ties back to the 1996 actioner. Is it really a standalone? I’ll hazard a guess and say that the character of Kate Cooper (Daisy Edgar-Jones) is the daughter of Jo and Bill (Helen Hunt and the late Bill Paxton). I could be wrong but all evidence points to this.
