“This week’s episode of My Adventures with Superman is a character study of Kara Zor-El, giving the audience a better understanding of this version of the character. In addition, Michael Emerson is deliciously evil as the voice of Brainiac. This episode is a must-watch.”
Last week’s episode of My Adventures with Superman finally introduced us to Supergirl but with a twist, leaving viewers on a cliffhanger. Though, it wasn’t the only good news. Indeed, Adult Swim has officially renewed the series for a third season! A new episode premieres this Saturday on Adult Swim and on Max the following day.
CONFRONTING MINDS

My Adventures with Superman always subverts expectations bringing us new takes on the characters we know. Last week, we were introduced to Kara Zor-El (Supergirl) with a twist. Indeed, she is a villain working with Brainiac. Though, there is more to it than meets the eye. After the big confrontation between her and her cousin Superman in episode 5, this week’s episode focuses on learning more about Kara Zor-El and who she really is in this series. It’s about confronting Kara and Superman’s visions of the world. They question each other’s motivations and points of view. In fact, it’s exciting to see these two characters interacting the way that they are.
This episode is really a character study on Kara Zor-El and on Superman’s state of mind at this point of the season. There are a lot of things happening that give the audience clues of where the story will go in the remaining episodes. It acts as a turning point in the series as Kara Zor-El comes in. Plus, it is also an episode that acts as a transition for the big stuff coming in. Moreover, the end credits are different this week as well, reflecting on the environments featured in this episode.
A MOST DANGEROUS FOE

So far, My Adventures with Superman had only given us a sneak peek at Brainiac also known as Primus. But, this episode finally gives us a proper introduction of this overarching villain. Michael Emerson has been perfectly cast for this voice role, he is deliciously evil! His voice intonation and speech pattern clearly shows that Brainiac is enjoying being evil and he’s someone you don’t want to mess with. Emerson’s voice performance makes Brainiac even more sadistic than usual, which I really love. This is exactly why I think they made the right casting choice. Michael Emerson has a voice fitting for a villain. Episode 6 clearly shows what Brainiac is capable of and what to expect from him. Undoubtedly, the last four episodes of season 2 are going to be Superman’s biggest challenge yet.
This series has cleverly used Brainiac, showing him here and there to let the audience know he is the big villain, waiting for the right time to unleash him. Brainiac has a completely different look from what we are used to but it’s a look that fits with the visual aesthetic of the anime-inspired series. He has an impressive and terrifying presence. When he appears on screen, you know who you are dealing with.
VERDICT
This week’s episode of My Adventures with Superman is a character study of Kara Zor-El, giving the audience a better understanding of this version of the character. In addition, Michael Emerson is deliciously evil as the voice of Brainiac. This episode is a must-watch.

A new episode of My Adventures with Superman season 2 premieres this Saturday on Adult Swim and on Max the next day.
