Godzilla x Kong Header (New 2)

This week on The Official Chart, we go Back To Black with Anyone But You, but Godzilla and Kong rule the chart once again!

Welcome to The Official Film Chart.

THE UK TOP TEN

This week sees three re-entries into the chart placings. These titles mean it’s a sad farewell to Barbie, Oppenheimer, and Meg 2: The Trench. In a close week, only 680 sales separated the top two titles. But what are they, and who has triumphed? Time to see who won the battle of the Empires.

THE NEW EMPIRE HAS RISEN AGAIN!

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire emerges triumphant in a photo-finish against the second-placed title, with only 680 sales separating the two titles on this week’s chart. Godzilla x Kong storms up 11 places this week following its release on physical formats, earning a third non-consecutive week at Number 1, four weeks after its last placement at the top. THE FROZEN EMPIRE ALMOST FREEZES IN THE TOP SPOT!

Despite finishing at Number 2 this week, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire – also enjoying a sales boost thanks to its release on physical – is the biggest release of the week across DVD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD. (Read our review here.)

DUNE: PART TWO DRIFTS FROM THE TOP!

Dune: Part Two is finally toppled from Number 1 – but we can’t discount it from future chart-topping success as it holds strong in the Top 3 for another week. (Read our review here.)

WILL YOU STAND ALONGSIDE FURIOSA?

That is this week’s top ten best-selling titles. This week’s offering on PVOD is one of the best films of the year so far. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga hit the premium video-on-demand market this past Monday. (Read our review here.) Set 15 to 20 years before the events of Mad Max: Fury Road, the film follows the title character’s life for over a decade, from her kidnapping by the forces of warlord Dementus (Chris Hemsworth) to her ascension to the rank of Imperator. Tom Burke also stars as Praetorian Jack, a military commander who befriends Furiosa (Anya Taylor-Joy). The film unfairly didn’t hit the heights expected of it. If you fancy the smell of fuel and vengeance in your nostrils, grab the film for £15.99 to rent or £19.99 to buy early.

Can Furiosa take down the Titans next week? Anything is possible. So, until next week…

Whatever you decide, whatever you buy, stay safe, be kind, look after each other, and happy viewing!
