TV Review | My Adventures With Superman Season 2 Episode 8

With 3 episodes left including this week, My Adventures with Superman season 2 is soon coming to an end. The action is heading to space with the main characters all being there, will they be able to stop Brainiac and Supergirl? A new episode premieres this Saturday on Adult Swim and on Max the following day.

SUPERMAN’S MIND

Last week’s episode took a break from Superman, focusing solely on Lois and Jimmy. This week, the Man of Steel is back. However, things are not doing well for him. In fact, this is the darkest episode of the series yet. It is a trip inside Superman’s mind as Brainiac tries to break him. This is a battle of the minds, putting Superman against his greatest challenge. It keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. Undoubtedly, it is the most intense 24-minute episode of this series.

Throughout season 2, we have seen that Clark and Lois had some problems in their relationship and that despite Jimmy being his best friend, there were also some issues on that side. It’s all coming to play in this episode. Everything has been leading up to this moment. This episode revisits scenes from season 1 and 2 bringing a different twist. Superman is not only facing Brainiac, he is facing himself. This fight between Superman and himself and Superman and Brainiac is the culmination of two seasons. And yet, it’s not the season finale. So, this means they have something even bigger for the remaining episodes.

A NEW TEAM

Moreover, Lois and Jimmy are coming up with a plan to rescue Clark. They may be humans but they don’t give up. This is truly inspiring to see them trying to save Superman despite the odds. Superman saved Earth, now it’s their time to save him. Anyone can be a hero, you don’t need to wear a cape to be one.

Part of the plan includes confronting Kara. In just a few episodes, she has had an incredible character development. Introducing this character with a twist was such a brilliant idea. We all know Supergirl’s story but revisiting it in a different way is even more exciting. Indeed, it brings something new to the table. This series excels at staying true to what the characters are while bringing a refreshing take on these iconic stories. Yes, Kara started as a villain here but even then, episode 5 gave us clues that there is more to her character than that. And episode 6 revealed the truth about her being manipulated by Brainiac. So with this episode, we start to see the Kara we know. It’s a real joy to witness.
