It’s time to celebrate 85 years of Batman. As we approach Batman’s 85th Anniversary, DC Comics is gearing up to celebrate the Dark Knight’s debut in style. Batman Day, 21 September 2024, will be a global celebration of the much-loved DC Superhero, with an incredible selection of content and activities worldwide. The character debuted 85 years ago, in 1939’s Detective Comics #27, created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, and has become one of the most recognized characters in the world.

When celebrating the Dark Knight’s debut, why not go all out? DC could set up fantastic exhibitions, bring back the classic Batman movies to the big screen, or even have face-painting sessions for fans of all ages to transform into Gotham’s hero. But which should DC choose? Thankfully, the team at DC Comics won’t make you choose. Instead, you can do them all!

THE LEGACY OF THE DARK KNIGHT

Batman is one of the most iconic characters in the world and is recognised across the globe, with his first appearance 85 years ago in 1939’s Detective Comics #27 created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. Returning for the 10th year running, Batman Day is celebrated the third Saturday of September every year, where fans around the world gather to celebrate their love of one of the most enduring characters in popular culture. UK fans can join in the celebrations with a range of activities to celebrate the iconic Caped Crusader.

  • Fans can visit the hotly anticipated Batman Unmasked: The Exhibition, opening tomorrow, 6th September in London’s iconic Covent Garden. Open for a limited run, the 5-star rated and hotly anticipated Batman Unmasked: The Exhibition brings together a never seen before collection of original props, vehicles and costumes. Following a successful Manchester run with 35,000 guests over 6 weeks, you can book tickets today at Batman Unmasked Exhibition in London (batmanexhibition.com).   • The Caped Crusader will return to the big screen throughout the UK, with Odeon, Vue, Cineworld, Picturehouse and Showcase all showing The LEGO Batman Movie, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, The Batman and The Dark Knight Trilogy.
