THE UK TOP TEN

What a week it has been on the chart! Two new entries and three re-entries blow the placings apart. To make way for these titles, we must say goodbye to The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring, The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers, Borderlands, Dune Part Two, and The Boy And The Heron. We also have a brand new number-one title. What could it be? What do you think? I was right!

DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE SLICE THE CHART APART TO HIT THE TOP!

Deadpool & Wolverine earns the biggest week of sales in two years, as it makes its Official Film Chart debut. Racking up 212,000 sales on digital downloads only, this is the biggest week of sales for a film since Top Gun: Maverick earned 351,000 in its debut week during the summer of 2022.

Deadpool & Wolverine – the release of which led *NSYNC’s Bye Bye Bye to return to the Official Singles Chart – is the Marvel Studios sequel to Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018), starring Ryan Reynolds once again as Deadpool, while Hugh Jackman reprises his starring role as Wolverine in a new universe. Meanwhile, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes re-enters the chart at Number 2 following its release on disc. The film previously spent four weeks at Number 1 on its original digital release. (Read our review here.)

INSIDE OUT 2 TAKES THE BRONZE POSITION!

Inside Out 2 lifts one place to Number 3

WHAT IS HAPPENING? – In Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2,” Joy (voice of Amy Poehler), Sadness (voice of Phyllis Smith), Anger (voice of Lewis Black), Fear (voice of Tony Hale) and Disgust (voice of Liza Lapira) are awakened to an alarming reality: everything is changing now that Riley is 13. Directed by Kelsey Mann and produced by Mark Nielsen, “Inside Out 2” releases only in theaters in Summer 2024. © 2023 Disney/Pixar. All Rights Reserved.

FINISHING OFF!

And that, my friends, is all there is for this week. I won’t blow my own trumpet about being right about what would dominate this week’s chart. But unless something HUGE comes along to dethrone it, you can expect to see Deadpool & Wolverine hold the top spot for a while. Not even the digital release of Alien: Romulus in just under two weeks will really bother it (Read our review here.)

How long do you think the excellent Marvel team-up will hold the top spot for? Why not leave us a comment to let us know what you think? With that in mind, until next week…

Whatever you decide, whatever you buy, stay safe, be kind, look after each other, and happy viewing!
