Let them fight. Kong and Mechagodzilla are clashing with Godzilla on the Fortnite map to unleash the MonsterVerse!
Look out, MonsterVerse fans, because the ultimate battle for supremacy is coming to the Fortnite map this week. For a while now, we’ve known that Godzilla would be an unlockable character in the Battle Pass starting January 17th. However, following his grand reveal, players have been buzzing with speculation about whether other titans from the MonsterVerse might join him. Naturally, the most sought-after addition is Godzilla’s greatest rival—the legendary King Kong, and fortunately, Epic Games has stepped up to the plate. Kong is indeed making his way to the map and will arrive sooner than you might expect.
Get ready for the mighty ape to storm the item shop on January 16th! He’s bringing all the iconic accessories that made him a force to be reckoned with in Godzilla x Kong: A New Empire (Read our Review). But that’s not all—Kong won’t be coming alone. Epic Games is stepping up the game by introducing a brand-new skin for Mechagodzilla from Godzilla Vs. Kong (Read our Review), and he’s primed to stomp his way to glory.

KING OF THE MONSTERS
The new Kong and Mechagodzilla set is a premium collection; considering the accessories included, the cost is expected to reflect that. Thankfully, the usual trusted data miners have discovered the set’s pricing structure and components. As always, Fortnite has thankfully split the components to make the set more affordable. Should you wish to buy the whole set, it will set you back a reasonable 2,800 V-Bucks. Read on for a breakdown of the cost for each element.
- Kong Skin: 1,500 V-Bucks
- MechaGodzilla Skin: 1,800 V-Bucks
- Kong’s Battle Axe Pickaxe: 800 V-Bucks
- Proton Drill Pickaxe: 800 V-Bucks
- B.E.A.S.T. Glove Emote:Â 400 V-Bucks
- Roar Power Glove Wrapper:Â 500 V-Bucks
- Cybernetic Scream Wrapper: 500 V-Bucks

MONSTERS REIGN
I think it’s safe to say that Kong and Mechagodzilla look exceptional. Although Kong’s scale may not be entirely screen-accurate, the skin looks absolutely stunning. On the other hand, Mechagodzilla seems downright menacing and is a shoo-in to give Kong and Godzilla a run for their money. With Kong and his metal adversary hitting the item shop on the 16th and Godzilla becoming unlockable on the 17th, this weekend’s gameplay will be dominated by monsters, and long may they reign. But will the Scar King, Shimo, and the other humanoid Kaiju be joining them later down the line? We can only hope.

This latest release is another fine addition to the growing list of collaboration skins, and the year has only just begun. Other collaborations planned for 2025 include Avatar, Demon Slayer, Disney Pixar’s Cars, and Kaiju No.8. Additionally, fans of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles can look forward to potentially adding Bebop, Rocksteady, and Casey Jones to the already impressive list of characters available on the game; however, these are yet to be officially confirmed. But 2025 is already off to a flying start, and with Godzilla and Kong reigniting their battle for supremacy on the map this weekend, monsters are going to reign for the foreseeable future.
The new Kong and Mechagodzilla bundle will be available in the Fortnite item shop on January 16th, 2025.
