BAFTA today announces the nominations for the 2025 EE BAFTA Film Awards, celebrating the very best in film over the past year. A total of 42 films received nominations today.
The ten films with the most nominations are:
12 nominations for Conclave
11 nominations for Emilia Pérez
Nine nominations for The Brutalist
Seven nominations for Anora, Dune: Part Two and Wicked
Six nominations for A Complete Unknown and Kneecap
Five nominations for Nosferatu and The Substance
The following films also nominated include:
Three nominations for The Apprentice, Blitz, Gladiator II, Sing Sing, Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl and The Wild Robot
Two nominations for Flow, Hard Truths, The Outrun and A Real Pain
One nomination for each of the following: All We Imagine As Light, Better Man, Bird, Black Box Diaries, Daughters, Heretic, Hoard, I’m Still Here (Ainda Estou Aqui), Inside Out 2, Kensuke’s Kingdom, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, The Last Showgirl, Lee, Love Lies Bleeding, Monkey Man, Nickel Boys, No Other Land, Santosh, The Seed of the Sacred Fig, Sister Midnight, Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story and Will & Harper
The following British shorts were nominated:

FIRST BAFTA NOMINATIONS
14 out of 24 nominees in the performance categories have received their first BAFTA Film nomination, including:
Yura Borisov (Anora), Kieran Culkin (A Real Pain), Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez), Ariana Grande (Wicked), Selena Gomez (Emilia Pérez), Clarence Maclin (Sing Sing), Mikey Madison (Anora), Demi Moore (The Substance), Guy Pearce (The Brutalist), Isabella Rossellini (Conclave), Zoe Saldaña (Emilia Pérez), Sebastian Stan (The Apprentice) and Jeremy Strong (The Apprentice).
Two former EE Rising Stars are nominated:
Cynthia Erivo (2019), and Timothée Chalamet (2018).
In the Best Director category, three of the six are first-time Director nominees (and nominees for Original Screenplay):
Sean Baker (Anora) (who has the most nominations this year, with five), Brady Corbet (The Brutalist) and Coralie Fargeat (The Substance).
BAFTA Breakthroughs are well represented:
Luna Carmoon, (Director/Writer, Hoard), Natalie Rae and Angela Patton (Directors, Daughters) are Breakthrough participants from 2024 and Sarah Brocklehurst (Producer, The Outrun), Rose Glass (Director/Screenwriter, Love Lies Bleeding) and Oliver Kassman Producer, Love Lies Bleeding) are Breakthrough participants from 2019.

THE EE RISING STAR AWARD
The nominees for the EE Rising Star Award were announced on 7 January as Marisa Abela, Jharrel Jerome, David Jonsson, Mikey Madison, and Nabhaan Rizwan. It is the only award voted for by the British public and it is presented annually to a performer who has demonstrated exceptional talent early in their careers. Voting is now open at ee.co.uk/bafta.
Actors Mia McKenna-Bruce and Will Sharpe announced the nominations via a live broadcast from BAFTA 195 Piccadilly in London earlier today.
The EE BAFTA Film Awards ceremony will once again be held at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in central London, and broadcast on Sunday 16 February 2025 on BBC One and iPlayer in the UK, stream on BritBox International in North America, and be available on BritBox on demand in the Nordics and Australia.
