The best anime of 2024 is back with a bang! Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye is crazier, scarier, funnier, and bigger than the first season. This is an action-packed film with striking visuals.
Dan Da Dan is back and in cinemas! Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye is a film that combines the first three episodes of Season 2, along with a recap of the first season and interviews with the directors. The film is in cinemas around the world this weekend. Season 2 premieres July 4 on Crunchyroll and Netflix.
STORY

This is a film that combines episodes, and as a result, it does not have an opening or ending theme. So that’s the negative part of Evil Eye. We don’t get to experience the OP and ED on the big screen. On the bright side, we get to see three episodes on the big screen, and a month before they air on television. That’s amazing!
Season 2 picks up exactly where we left off. It was a scary moment with Momo facing creepy men trying to rape her at the onsen while Jiji and Okarun discovered a haunted room in Jiji’s house. Seeing that whole scene and what happens just after is even scarier on the big screen. It sent a chill down my spine. There are actually quite a few jump scares. The film flirted with the horror genre in these scenes. Dan Da Dan knows how to mix genres together with successful results. Undoubtedly, it’s an intense beginning, and it just keeps going from there. Indeed, these 3 episodes are action-packed. There is always something going on; never a dull moment.
Evil Eye is crazier, scarier, funnier, and even bigger than the first 12 episodes. If you thought season 1 was wacky, season 2 is on a whole different level. And it’s just the first three episodes. This gives the audience a pretty good idea of what to expect for the rest of the season. Dan Da Dan was the best anime of 202,4 and there is no doubt that it will be the best anime of 2025 too.
VISUALS

Furthermore, Science Saru (Tatami Time Machine Blues, Star Wars: Visions) continues to impress with their animation. This studio boasts a unique style, characterized by distinctive character designs that truly stand out. With Season 2, it continues to play with colours, reflecting the different genres, as well as the characters. Okarun has a red aura, while the Evil Eye is blue or purple. So when they fight against each other, this creates something beautiful to watch. This play with colours really makes this series different from others.
Additionally, Science Saru has stepped up their game for Season 2. The animation is even more striking. Thus, seeing it on the big screen feels like a real present.
