The Odyssey features an all-star cast, led by Matt Damon and Tom Holland. Check out the first poster for the Christopher Nolan epic here.
What do you do when you’ve won an Oscar for your last movie, Oppenheimer? Take a break? Go on holiday? Or do you plan something bigger? Christopher Nolan doesn’t do small. Rather than undertake a smaller movie for his next effort, he’s opted to go for possibly one of the biggest epics of them all. The director is bringing us The Odyssey. It is an adaptation of the famous Greek epic poem The Odyssey, attributed to Homer. This epic film adaptation features an all-star cast led by Matt Damon as Odysseus, the king of Ithaca. It chronicles his long and perilous journey home following the Trojan War, as he attempts to reunite with his wife, Penelope. The ensemble cast also features Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Mia Goth, and Corey Hawkins.

THE PREMISE
The Odyssey follows Odysseus, the legendary Greek king of Ithaca, on his perilous journey home after the Trojan War. The narrative depicts his encounters with mythical beings such as the Cyclops Polyphemus, the Sirens, and the witch-goddess Circe, culminating in his long-awaited reunion with his wife, Penelope.
The film is reportedly the most expensive in Nolan’s career, with a budget of $250 million. It will also be the first large-scale film to be shot entirely with IMAX cameras. With Nolan’s track record of utilising IMAX technology, this could be something that becomes an epic, the likes of which we have never seen or experienced before.
