PREMISE
Tired of a world in which he no longer fits, Andrew Blake decides to leave the management of his small business in England to be hired as a butler in France. The country where he met his late wife. By landing at the Beauvillier estate, where no one knows who he really is, he hopes to follow in the footsteps of his past. However, encounters and out-of-control situations will decide otherwise…
DIRECTOR’S NOTE
When I wrote this novel almost ten years ago, my primary purpose was to put these characters of all ages and from very different backgrounds together in a familiar collective unconscious environment. I wanted to highlight two principles that I’ve always used to steer my own life:
1) “It’s never too late.”
2) “Problems are always less weighty when shared.”This is how I came up with my male character, Andrew; he thinks his life is as good as over, but then I throw him into an adventure alongside other people, forcing him to start over again, embarking on a bright and cheerful new beginning. The book was a big success; in fact, people are still discovering it to this day. The way I see it, MR. BLAKE AT YOUR SERVICE is a fable about what we all are, deep down: fragile and clumsy but full of hope.
