Jafar Panahi’s critically acclaimed new movie, It Was Just An Accident, is coming to UK and Irish cinemas. Check out the new trailer and artwork.
MUBI, the global distributor, streaming service and production company, has unveiled a new trailer and new artwork for the UK and Irish release of It Was Just An Accident, the latest film from acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi (No Bears, Taxi). Following its World Premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Palme d’Or, and its UK Premiere at the BFI London Film Festival, It Was Just An Accident will open in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on 5 December 2025.

PREMISE
When auto mechanic Vahid unexpectedly encounters the man who may have been his torturer in prison, he kidnaps him with the intention of exacting vengeance. But since the only clue to Eghbal’s identity is the distinct squeak of his prosthetic leg, Vahid turns to a loose circle of other now-freed victims for confirmation. And the danger only escalates. As they deal with their past and diverging worldviews, the group struggles to decide: Is this him, without a doubt? What would retribution mean, in actuality?
