MUBI Unveils The First Image From Paweł Pawlikowski's Fatherland

Fred Hechinger, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Caitriona Balfe, Kit Connor, and D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai to star in Andrew Haigh’s A Long Winter.

Principal photography is underway in Alberta, Canada, on BAFTA-nominated director Andrew Haigh’s ‘A Long Winter’ for MUBI and Film4. Written by Haigh, the script is an adaptation of Colm Tóibín’s short story of the same name.

Set high in the mountains, fall comes to an end, and a family prepares for the long winter ahead. The film stars Fred Hechinger (Thelma, Gladiator II), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear, The Fantastic Four: First Steps), Caitriona Balfe (Belfast, Ford vs. Ferrari), Kit Connor (Warfare, Rocketman), and D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (Warfare, Reservation Dogs). Further casting includes Manuel Garcia Rulfo (Jurassic World: Rebirth) and David Furr (The Gilded Age).

BEHIND THE SCENES

Tristan Goligher produced the film for The Bureau, Chad Oakes and Mike Frislev for Calgary-based Nomadic Pictures, and Michael Elliott. MUBI will retain rights in the US, UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, Benelux, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, Turkey, and India. Meanwhile, The Match Factory is handling worldwide sales. The film was developed by MUBI and is co-financed by MUBI and Film4. Furthermore, Farhana Bhula, Director of Film4, and Max Park, Development & Production Executive, are overseeing the project for Film4.

Further creatives involved in ‘A Long Winter’ include cinematographer Andre Turpin (Mommy, Incendies), Production Designer Emmanuel Frechette (Wayward, The North Water), and Editor Jonathan Alberts (All Of Us Strangers, 45 Years).

ANDREW HAIGH

Andrew Haigh is an award-winning writer-director whose critically acclaimed All of Us Strangers (Searchlight Pictures and Film4) received six BAFTA nominations. These include Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay for Haigh. All of Us Strangers was also the recipient of four Gotham and three Independent Spirit Awards nominations. Haigh’s previous feature films include Film4-backed Lean on Pete (2017) and 45 Years (2015), for which Charlotte Rampling earned an Academy Award nomination. Additionally, he directed the breakout hit, Weekend (2011).
