Sky Arts today unveils the official trailer for Battle of the Irish Dancers, a brand-new three-part documentary series launching on Wednesday, 12 November on Sky Arts and streaming on NOW.
Set in the high-pressure world of competitive Irish dancing, the series follows dancers and their teachers from Birmingham, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and Dublin as they train, rehearse and compete on the road to the World Championships in Dublin.
From seasoned champions to first-time competitors, Battle of the Irish Dancers offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at the dedication, discipline and drama that define this global traditional dance form.
PREMISE
Charting the drama and devotion of Ireland’s most loved art form, Sky Original Battle of the Irish Dancers follows a cast of dedicated dancers and their teachers. They are on the road to the Irish Dancing World Championships in Dublin. The three-part series celebrates Irish dancing as a life-enhancing art form. It requires the strength, endurance, and agility of an Olympian. Follow the dancers as they strive for excellence. The biggest competition of their careers awaits them. Discover how a small island produced a pastime. It became a global phenomenon. This dance made its mark on Australia, America, Asia, and Russia.
