Daisy Ridley swaps her Lightsaber for an axe in Zak Hilditch’s Zombie apocalypse feature, We Bury The Dead. Check out the first trailer here.
The first full trailer for Zak Hilditch’s Zombie apocalypse feature, We Bury The Dead, has emerged from the wasteland. The Zombie apocalypse genre has been eating well in recent years. After The Walking Dead and 28 Years Later unleashed their brilliance, a treasure trove of zombie features has trickled out of Hollywood like a torrent. Some have been legitimate bangers, while others…not so much! But when Zak Hilditch throws his hat into the ring, we sit up and take notice – especially when the cast boasts the talents of Daisy Ridley and Brenton Thwaites.
So, what can we expect from the film? And what makes a great zombie movie? Let’s dive into the trailer and see what all the fuss is about.
SYNOPSIS
After a catastrophic military disaster, the dead don’t just rise – they hunt. Ava (Daisy Ridley) searches for her missing husband, but what she finds is far more terrifying.
THE FILM
As mentioned, Zak Hilditch has put together a solid cast for his Zombie flick. Aside from Daisy Ridley and Brenton Thwaites, the film also stars Mark Coles Smith.
“We Bury the Dead” is being produced by Kelvin Munro and Grant Sputore from The Penguin Empire, along with Ross Dinerstein from Campfire Studios, and Joshua Harris and Mark Fasano from Gramercy Park Media. Nathan Klingher and Ford Corbett are serving as executive producers. The project was fully financed by Screen Australia, Screenwest, Lotterywest, the WA Regional Screen Fund, and Gramercy Park Media.
RELEASE
What a juicy new trailer. The zombie genre has seen its fair share of the spotlight in recent years, so it’s going to be tough for Hilditch to inject new life into it. But the director’s vision has already piqued our interest. We love a zombie movie, and when you throw in a talented director and a stunning cast, we are one hundred percent on board. Sadly, the early buzz for the film isn’t that great, with many critics hailing its production value but criticizing its lack of originality. But we’ll reserve judgment until we see the movie for ourselves. Bring it on!
