Coming soon to UK and Irish cinemas is the new film from writer-director Daniel Roher. The film, Tuner, is set for release on May 29th. The cast is led by Leo Woodall and the legendary Dustin Hoffman. It also includes Havana Rose Liu, Tovah Feldshuh, Lior Raz, and Jean Reno. The story of the film tells us of a gifted piano tuner’s meticulous skills for tuning pianos. These skills lead him to discover an unexpected aptitude for cracking safes. As a result, his life turns upside down. Black Bear released the new trailer for the film today.
THE FILM’S PREMIERES
The film had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival on August 30, 2025. It was followed by its Toronto International Film Festival premiere on September 8. The film was also revealed as the Surprise Film at the 69th BFI London Film Festival, on October 9. This was ahead of its release in UK and Irish cinemas.
While we attended the 69th BFI London Film Festival, we sadly missed out on the films’ surprise screening. However, some of our friends and fellow film critics and writers managed to obtain tickets for the screening, and it received some great reviews.

Directed and co-written by Oscar and BAFTA-winning director Daniel Roher (Navalny) and starring Leo Woodall (Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, One Day, The White Lotus), Havana Rose Liu (Bottoms), Lior Raz (Gladiator II), with Jean Reno (Léon: The Professional) and double Oscar-winner Dustin Hoffman (Kramer Vs. Kramer, Rain Man), Tuner tells the story of a talented piano tuner (Leo Woodall) whose life is turned upside down when he discovers that his meticulous skills for tuning pianos can equally be applied to cracking safes.

Black Bear will release Tuner in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on May 29th.
