Vue Lumière announces the UK release date for the acclaimed director Ferzan Ozpetek’s movie, Diamanti (Diamonds). See the trailer here.
Vue Lumière has announced the UK & Ireland cinema release of Ferzan Özpetek’s DIAMANTI (Diamonds). A box office sensation in its native Italy, the film is a sumptuous, 1970s-set love letter to cinematic costume design. It also celebrates the extraordinary women whose craftsmanship brings it to life.
Starring Luisa Ranieri and Jasmine Trinca, the film follows two dressmaker sisters at the helm of a prestigious Roman fashion house. They attempt to fulfil an intricate commission for an Oscar-winning costume designer.
PREMISE
A film director gathers his favourite actresses, those he worked with and those he loved. He wants to make a film about women, but he doesn’t reveal much. Instead, he observes them and takes a cue until his imagination throws them into another era. This era is a past where the noise of the sewing machines fills a workplace handled and populated by women. Here, men have minor and marginal roles, and cinema can be told from another point of view: the one of costume. Meanwhile, between loneliness, passions, anxieties, heartbreaking absence and unbreakable bonds, reality and fiction permeate. The same is true for the lives of the actresses and those of the characters, the competition and the sisterhood, the visible and the invisible.
