Netflix Debuts The Main Trailer, Key Art And New Images For Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole

Netflix releases the main trailer, key art and new images for the upcoming series Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole, starring Tobias Santelmann and Joel Kinnaman.

Step into the shadowy streets of Oslo, where nothing is as it seems. Every clue draws you deeper into the city’s dark heart. Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole (Norwegian title: Jo Nesbøs Harry Hole) brings the legendary Norwegian anti-hero Harry Hole to life. It does so in a gripping nine-episode serial killer mystery. The series premieres globally on Netflix on 26th March.

Tobias Santelmann (Exit, The Arctic Convoy) stars as the iconic detective Harry Hole, joined by Joel Kinnaman (Altered Carbon, The Suicide Squad) as Tom Waaler and Pia Tjelta (Made in Oslo, State of Happiness) as Rakel Fauke, alongside an all-star ensemble cast. The main trailer is now available.

With over 60 million books sold worldwide – including a staggering 5.6 million in Norway alone (more than the nation’s population!) – Nesbø’s novels have enthralled readers and defined the crime genre.

TOBIAS SANTELMANN

“Harry Hole isn’t just another detective – he is a character readers around the world have lived with for almost 30 years, and I am grateful for the opportunity to bring him to the screen. I approached this role with deep respect for Jo Nesbø’s work and for the audience that has followed Harry for so long. At the same time, I had to find my Harry – or our Harry – and I hope we’ve created something that feels true to the spirit of the books while also standing on its own.”

JOEL KINNAMAN

“Stepping into the role of Tom Waaler, Harry Hole’s formidable adversary, has been an exciting challenge. Filming in Oslo, the city so deeply woven into Jo Nesbø’s novels, brings an authenticity to the series that’s impossible to replicate. Collaborating closely with Jo to explore this darker side of Harry’s world has been a rewarding creative experience, and I’m so proud to help bring this story to the screen.”

PIA TJELTA

“I’ve been a fan of Jo Nesbø’s books for years, so stepping into this universe has been a real pleasure. Rakel Fauke is a character a lot of people hold very dear, and I feel fortunate to have the opportunity of bringing her to life on screen. Exploring the complicated relationship between Harry and Rakel, with Jo involved and this great team around us, has been a very meaningful experience for me.”

Directed by Øystein Karlsen (Exit) and Anna Zackrisson (The Helicopter Heist), Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole is a tale of obsession, betrayal, and blurred lines between justice and revenge. As Harry Hole faces off with his nemesis, Tom Waaler, audiences will be drawn into a game of cat and mouse. In this game, the stakes couldn’t be higher. But every crime case has its hidden clues.

THE PREMISE

Created by one of the greatest storytellers in crime fiction, Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole is a whodunnit serial-killer mystery led by the famed anti-hero, Harry Hole. Underneath the surface, this series is a nuanced character drama about two police officers. These officers are supposed to be colleagues but operate on opposite sides of the law. Throughout the season, Harry goes head-to-head with his long-time adversary and corrupt detective Tom Waaler. Harry is a brilliant but tormented homicide detective who struggles with his demons. As the two navigate the blurred ethical lines of the criminal justice system, Harry must do all he can to catch a serial killer. Moreover, he aims to bring Waaler to justice before it is too late.
