Our First Look at Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse Swings in From Sony Animation

Sony Animation has revealed our first look at Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, featuring new looks at Miles swinging into action against Spider-Man 2099.

Look out, Spidey fans, because our first look at Sony’s Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has arrived from CinemaCon. The long-gestating sequel has been in development for a while now, but that hasn’t stopped Sony Animation from showcasing the film at CinemaCon. During the panel, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Justin K. Thompson, and Bob Pesichetti took to the stage and revealed the first footage from the film.

Sadly, the footage isn’t available for public viewing. However, we know it showed Miles Morales stuck in an alternate universe, being held captive by his Uncle Aaron. Aaron has joined forces with an alternate Miles Morales, aka The Prowler. What’s more, the creatives revealed that they shot the highly anticipated film in a 1:43:1 ratio, designed for premium large-format screens. So expect a Project Hail Mary-sized debut when the film finally releases.

FIRST LOOK IMAGES

Thankfully, our pals at Sony Animation have shared some juicy images from the film. They reveal Aaron and Jefferson seated in a vehicle, glancing back at who we expect to be, Miles. The other images show Jefferson embracing Miles and Miles battling Spider-Man 2099 as they travel through a dimensional portal. Take a look below.

RELEASE

What a phenomenal first look. I recently had the pleasure of watching the first Spider-Verse movie on the big screen, accompanied by a live orchestra performing the score. The orchestra was led by the legendary composer Daniel Pemberton, and the performance was magical. Indeed, it set the tempo for what we hope will be a thrilling climax to the Spider-Verse trilogy, and judging by these early images, the film looks like a banger.

After their thrilling box office triumph in Project Hail Mary, all eyes are on Phil Lord & Christopher Miller to deliver. But with Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson in the director’s chair and Sony Animation constantly redefining the boundaries of animation, the threequel is a shoo-in to complete the trilogy with a web-slinging bang! Bring it on.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will swing into cinemas on June 18, 2027.
