Starring Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brühl, the Formula 1 racing biopic, Rush, will accelerate off the starting grid and onto 4K UHD and digital this June.
If, like me, you were a fan of Formula 1 back in the 1970s, you’d know all about the incredible rivalry between the Austrian legend, Niki Lauda, and the bad boy of the sport, Britain’s James Hunt. The battles were, and still are, legendary. Being enemies on the track, it took Lauda’s almost fatal crash and burn injuries to bring the pair closer together as rivals. As a result, each understood the other, cementing the friendship they shared early in their careers. Lauda himself admitted he envied Hunt. Sadly, both legends are now dead, Hunt in 1993 and Lauda in 2019. But their story has lived on through the years and still resonates to this day.
Now, Studiocanal has announced the 2013 film about the pair, Ron Howard’s thrilling Formula 1 racing biopic RUSH – starring Chris Hemsworth as bad boy F1 superstar James Hunt and Daniel Brühl as arch rival Niki Lauda will make its UK UHD debut on 29th June, the perfect accompaniment leading into this year’s British Grand Prix, with extras including the amazing real life story behind the film, deleted scenes and a making of featurette.

ABOUT THE FILM
Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind) once again teams up with Academy Award-nominated writer Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon) on this fast-paced and spectacular re-creation of the merciless and legendary 1970s Formula 1 rivalry between English playboy James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth, Thor) and his Austrian opponent, Niki Lauda (Daniel Brühl, Inglourious Basterds). Moreover, there are fantastic performances from a cast including Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer, Green Wing’s Stephen Mangan and Julian Rhind-Tutt. In addition, Downfall’s Alexandra Maria Lara is in the cast. You’ll find adrenaline-fuelled, full-throttle action and a marvelously detailed 1970s setting here. This is a winner all the way to the chequered flag.
Described by Total Film as ‘utterly gripping’, and called ‘one of the greatest racing movies of all time’ by Variety, RUSH brilliantly evokes the feel and excitement of the era and the Formula 1 scene. Furthermore, the brand new 4K UHD upgrade puts you in the driving seat for some truly thrilling racing sequences that’ll take your breath away. Winner of a BAFTA for Best Editing, this is a superbly entertaining film that’ll pin you to your seat for the duration.
